Cheese and apples go good together, right? Of course they do!
These 7 Apples are all about cheese. If you’ve ever read the book, “Who Moved My Cheese,” you’ll get right away what I’m writing about. If you haven’t read it, do. It’s short, can be read in a little over an hour and it could be a timely game changer for you. It’s a bit cute and corny too, but it puts the constancy of change into perspective and lightens things up a bit.
I’ve had the book for years and remember reading it, mostly seeing who the Others in my life were in the story, not myself. Then I forgot about it. I’m in such a different head space now, and when I read it last night it reminded me that I don’t always like change but I’ve come to recognize that it’s the one constant in my life. The lessons it teaches through the actions of mice and men are quite intriguing. Simple yet profound.
The story presents itself through the eyes of 4 characters: Sniff, Scurry, Hem and Haw. Each of them sees things differently and they behave according to their beliefs. Haw recognizes that his very survival depends upon his beliefs and self-imposed limitations, and that he and he alone, is responsible for his outcome.
Let’s take a bite out of the cheese and consider pairing it with my 7 Apples for a fresh new taste…ummm…outlook on things.
1. The more important your cheese is the more you want to hold on to it.
2. If you do not change you can become extinct.
3. The quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you find new cheese.
4. It is safer to search in the maze than remain in a cheeseless situation.
5. Old beliefs do not lead you to new cheese.
6. When you see that you can find and enjoy new cheese, you change course.
7. Noticing small changes early helps you adapt to the bigger changes that are to come.
Change it up – throw an Apple in there with it and you may enjoy the taste of change that much more!
….and now I’m feeling the need for a nibble
“He had to admit that the biggest inhibitor to change lies within yourself, and that nothing gets better until you change.” – excerpt
