“Thinking is such hard work, Shandra, why think small?” Wow. That got my attention. I wanted to run a couple of ideas by this friend, and that’s the response she gave me. After a 30 minute conversation I was left wondering what had just hit me. Things I’ve dreamed about for years were now right in front of me. The inner battle ensued – “Could this be true? What if it’s ‘just WORDS? Who am I to think I can do this?” See where I’m going with this? We’ve all heard that the only barrier to fulfilling our dreams is ourselves. Her WORDS created a thought process.
At first I went through the gamut of ingrained self-talk that has limited me – yes, I admit it. Then I remembered the WORDS I spoke myself only a month ago, “Open the floodgates – I’m ready.” Hmmm, and here I am. Am I REALLY ready? Oh yes, yes I am! Those WORDS created a defining moment for me. When I spoke them I knew I was ready to receive, to change, to do things differently than I’ve done them before. Zig always says, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”
EVERY day for the past month, WORDS have been shared with me in the form of encouragement from friends, family & colleagues, quotes, subscriptions to ‘thought for the day’ type stuff, scriptures – you name it, I’ve received it, something said or written specifically directed at what I need to hear. All WORDS. All WORDS that I have none big enough to express my thanks in return. The only difference between hearing those kinds of WORDS even 6 months ago to now, are my very own….”I’m ready!”
We can all recite the conversations we have with ourselves in our heads, or harmful WORDS spoken to us throughout our lives. My focus today is to encourage you to say, “I’m ready!” to WORDS that will create new beginnings, a change in direction, WORDS that will eliminate the negative self-talk.
Never underestimate the power of WORDS!

You my dear are an inspiration!! In the short period that we have known eachother, you have proven to be one of the most fun, positive, loving, and admirable chicas in my life. I feel blessed to have you and your kids in my life. Think Big! Dream Big! Love Big! I have no doubt in my mind that you will succeed.
Always positive & loving, even when crazy mothers invite you to a birthday party on the other side of town… during rush hour… and lets not forget the construction. hehe! Love ya chica!!!
Keep writing the awesome posts! This one had me thinking all day about those nasty negative self thoughts. “I’m ready” to kick them all the way to Timbuktoo.
Yah, you’re a crazy mother, but not because you invited us to a birthday party way over the mountain tops…hehe. We’ve sure bonded and I think it’s great my kids get to see the more juvenile side of me that you seem to draw out in me. Thanks for reading!
