How long does it take one person (me) to change a light bulb? A while apparently!
I couldn’t figure out why it was so dark in the kitchen and truth be told I don’t have a clue how long those 2 bulbs had been burned out! Yes, 2 of them. I like things bright and usually notice the instant a bulb has lost its natural glow. I’m sure it must have happened only yesterday – or this morning maybe?!
But wow, when I changed those suckers it seemed like a whole new world. It was such a simple fix and it took less than 2 minutes. How often do we stay in the dark about something when it would take next to no effort to find a solution or an answer? Or maybe it’s that we would rather stay in the dark than actually make the change or transition back into the light because it would mean facing a disappointment or a fear? For me it’s like getting on the scale. I’d rather not…if I stay in the dark about what it says I don’t have to do anything about it now, do I?! Well, except for the clothes that no longer fit.
The great thing about new light bulbs is they shed light on the situation. There’s <mostly> no toe stubbing , you see where you’re going, it’s much safer than wandering aimlessly in the dark. The flip side is all the cobwebs and dust are visible too! That in itself presents another ‘enlightening’ thought (yes, cheesy and I know it). If you see them, you can do something about them. If it’s dark and dreary often they go unnoticed and can’t be cleaned out of those elusive corners. They feel really creepy when they glide across your forehead or hand though, so the moral of that story is if you have light you can easily get rid of them before they become creepy things that make you jump in the dark!! Feeling your way in complete darkness can be daunting and dangerous to be sure, and isn’t exactly the brainiest if there’s an option to turn on some light!
When we decide to make the switch from broken and burned out light bulbs to brilliant ones with lots of life left in them, everything looks so much clearer and easier to handle.
Think About It
People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. Â ~Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
Fun Blog & So True!! I think I have two bulbs burnt out in my kitchen as well. Only thing is mine burnt out a LONG time ago. I am either choosing to stay in the dark, lazy, or just to cheap to pay for the electricity. Maybe I’ll change them this evening so that I can actually see the extra serving I put on my plate tonight. Cheers!
You crack me up. Did you change the bulbs, did you see your plate? Cheers!
Well said & great quote!
